20 days Everest Base Camp Trek with Island Peak Climbing is an adventure trip of a lifetime. The Island Peak climbing with Everest Base Camp Trek is ideal to those who want trek to Everest base camp and Island peak climbing in Nepal. We first trek to Everest Base Camp and climb Island Peak on as a second part of the trip. Island Peak(6190 m) is a varied, interesting, challenging and stunning trekking peak in Everest. It is not the highest trekking peak. The peak is technically more challenging climbing peak in Nepal. This is nice to combine Everest base camp trek with Island Peak climbing together in a trip because Everest base camp trek helps to acclimatize you before climbing Island Peak.
The Everest base camp island peak trek starts from Lukla with a spectacular flight from Kathmandu. The tea house trekking passes thorough the Sherpa villages, pasture, alpine forest, moraine and glacier. In the trekking, we have an early morning ascent of Kala Pattar (5500m) and the long trek up to Everest Base Camp. Kalapatthar offers the superb views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Makalu and it also looks down on the Khumbu glacier where base camp is located.
Island peak is technically demanding climbing peak in Nepal which including basic rock scrambling, glacier walk on steep snow. Also ice walk with an ice-axe and crampons on fixed ropes is really adventure. It is helpful to have winter skills course and a basic alpine skills course covering crevasse rescue for Island Peak climbing. Whilst it is not easy because of the altitude and the amount of ascent that is required on summit day, the sense of achievement that you feel on reaching the summit will stay with you forever as will the views. Thus, the Everest Base Camp Island Peak trek is an incredible Himalayan expedition with a summit of a 20,293 ft. / 6,187 meter peak.
