Tamang, the horse traders in Tibetan traded horses with the local Nepalese in Rasuwa district, right on the border between Nepal and Tibet.They crossed over the Himalayan and stayed along Tamang Heritage trail since many year ago. Tamang people enjoy a party and have distinctive head gear and customs steeped in Tibetan history.
The fascinating Tamang Heritage Trail Trek begins with a 7 hour bus drive from Kathmandu through towns and villages to Syabru Besi, the starting point of the trek. The trekking days are not long, and the maximum altitude you will reach just over 3500 meters. The view from Nagthali is a truly memorable. The walk from Nagthali to the view point is along a corridor where Red Panda can see and there are many beautiful birds to spot. You don't need to rely on weather dependent flight for Tamang Heritage Trail Trek.

Day 01: Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1300m) via Trisuli Bazaar (540m)
Drive to Dhunche and continue on to Syabrubesi via Trisuli Bazaar (7-8 hrs). Overnight in Syabrubesi
Day 02: Syabrubesi to Gatlang(2,200m, 5 hours).
From Syabrubesi we climb up to a view point with views of Ganesh Himal, Gosaikunda range and the Goljang valley. Then a one hour descent to the Goljang valley. Another 3 hours walk from Goljang brings us to Gatlang, a charming Tamang village. Overnight at the community lodge.
Day 03: Gatlang to Tatopani(2607m, 6-7 hours
This is one of the longest days of the trek, beginning with a descent to Thangbuchet (near Chilime village) by the Bhotekoshi River. After lunch the trail we’ll ascend up and cross a suspension bridge. The ascent continues until you get to Tatopani which means ‘hot water’, You can enjoy the natural hot springs in the lap of the mountains. Locals believe that the waters have a healing quality. Dinner and overnight stay at local Tea Lodge.
Day 04: Tatopani to Thuman(2,400m, 6 hour) via Brimdang and Nagthali
We climb up to Brimdang village where we stop for lunch. After lunch the trek continues ascending to Nagthali Danda at 3300m. The trek continues down to Thuman, a Tibetan influenced Tamang village with friendly people who love to sing and dance. Overnight at local teahouse.
Day 05: Thuman to Briddim(2,345m, 6 hours)
The morning hike is along a flat section then descends to Timure along the old trade route to Tibet, just a 3 hour walk away here. The trail continues to Briddim which is another Tibetan influenced Tamang village. We will have a traditional homestay at Briddim where, lodging and meals are provided at the individual houses on a rotational basis. Visitors can also enjoy the local cultural practices with the host family and go on village walks to see the traditions and customs of the people.
Day 06: Briddim to Syabrubesi(1600m, 6 hours, 16km)
After a leisurely breakfast, we trek down to Syabrubesi which is just 3 hourrs walk from Briddim. After lunch rest of the day is free. Dinner and overnight at Syabrubesi.
Day 07: Syabrubesi to Kathmandu(1300m, 170km, 6 hour).
After and early breakfast we drive back to Kathmandu (7 hrs). Overnight at Kathmandu hotel.
Trek Gear List: No need to bring unnecessary trekking equipment with you for trekking in Nepal. The following trekking equipment and gears are recommended before trekking in Nepal. Most of the trekking equipment what you will need can be rented or purchased in Nepal either in Kathmandu or Pokhara at cheap price. We will help you with the necessary arrangements. Except your day pack all the luggage will be carried by porters. There is an allowance of 15 kg per person. Additional personal items not needed for the trekking part of the trip can be stored in the storage room of hotel without extra cost.
