Day 1: Arrive in Delhi
Arrive at the airport in Delhi before being transferred to your city hotel, with the opportunity to then gain your first taste of India with some free time within the bustling capital city.
Day 2: Sightseeing tour of Delhi.
After breakfast at your hotel, head out on a sightseeing tour taking in some of the main attractions of Old Delhi. You’ll visit Jama Masjid, the largest mosque anywhere in Asia, as well as the magical Red Fort and the Raj Ghat memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. After lunch, see the sights of new Delhi, including Humayun’s Tomb and the Tower of Victory – built to establish the onset of Muslim rule in the country.
Day 3: Delhi to Agra (258km, 5 hours)
Following breakfast, you’ll hit the road to make the trip to Agra. On arrival, you’ll visit the ancient Agra Fort and arguably the most famous monument in India; the Taj Mahal. Built in the 1600s under orders of Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, the monument was more than 20 years in the making and is now a World Heritage Site described as the ‘jewel of Muslim art in India’.
Day 4: Agra to Jaipur (232 km, 5/6 hours)
Hit the road early for the journey to Jaipur, stopping off to pay a visit to the city of Fatehpur Sikri. Built in the 1500, the city was abandoned shortly after completion but many of the red sandstone buildings remain preserved as some of the best examples of Mughal architecture in the country.
Day 5: Jaipur
Following breakfast at the hotel, head on an excursion to Amber Fort, built in the late 1500 near to Jaipur. Having stopped at the Hawa Mahal – or Palace of the Winds – en-route, the morning will be spent exploring the fort, with the options of either a ride on elephant back or along the ramparts in a jeep. The afternoon is then set aside to explore Jaipur, including visits to the City Palace Museum and the awe-inspiring Jantar Manta Observatory.
Day 6: Jaipur/Delhi Departure (205km, 5 hours)
Leave Jaipur to head back to Delhi, arriving in the evening at the airport for your return trip home.
